Former SsangYong is preparing new products: the Torres coupe-shaped crossover and pickup truck are revealed

The truck will definitely be an electric car, but there is no complete certainty about installing an SUV. Both models can make a full premiere before the end of this year.

The Korean automaker, which became known throughout the world as SsangYong, was founded in 1954, that is, this year it celebrates its 70th anniversary. But this is no longer SsangYong at all: in 2023, the company was transferred to the local conglomerate KG Group, after which it was renamed KG Mobility (KGM). However, the figure is quite impressive, and it is logical that marketers are actively using it: a short video is dedicated to the anniversary, which highlights two future models of the KGM brand.

One of the new products has already been shown in concept form earlier; we are talking about an electric pickup truck coded KGM O100. The truck is made on the basis of the already sold KGM Torres EVX electric crossover (it is also in the video), it has a monocoque body.

But they still haven’t talked about the technology of the pickup. The original SUV in Korea is presented with a single 207-horsepower electric motor, which is located on the front axle, and a 73.4 kW battery from the Chinese company BYD. By the way, Torres also comes with an internal combustion engine: SUVs with a 1.5 petrol turbo-four have a different appearance and interior.

The second new KGM model has not been highlighted before — it is a crossover with the in-plant index J120, and it is also a variety of Torres. It is curious that the Korean specialized media dubbed the car the Torres Coupe, although it would be a stretch to call it a coupe-like one.

Be that as it may, the KGM J120 also has a distinguished design: the SUV has a different rear, original diode running lights and taillights, and there are additional luminous sections on the tailgate . But the cross is deprived of an external box. Some local media consider the KGM J120 to be an electric car; according to another version, the serial SUV will receive a hybrid setup. Although the presence of a purely gasoline version should not be ruled out.
