SOCHI, February 9 A criminal case on the provision of unsafe services was opened after a gas explosion in a bakery in Sochi, where three people were injured, the press service of the Krasnodar department reported RF IC.
The regional headquarters of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported on February 6 that a gas explosion occurred in a Sochi bakery on Timiryazev Street, 46/2, three people were injured and were taken to the hospital. According to the prosecutor's office, the probable cause of the emergency was the depressurization of a gas cylinder.
According to the Investigative Committee, in the bakery there was a gas leak from a composite gas cylinder and in the room where there were tandoor ovens heated to high temperatures, there was a “pop of the air mixture.”
«The investigative department for the Central District of Sochi, based on the results of a procedural investigation into the injuries of three people as a result of a gas burst, opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime provided for in paragraph «c» of Part 2 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in negligence in causing serious harm to health),” the message says.
Investigators are questioning the owners of the bakery, the necessary documentation is being studied, and a fire-technical examination has been appointed.
As a source in the emergency services previously reported, three victims were taken to intensive care. A 33-year-old man received burns on 90% of the body surface, a 22-year-old girl — 30%, a 43-year-old woman — 70%.
