The founder of Reform UK said he was “shocked” by the “absolute reluctance” to consider talks with Russia after Moscow invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
It came after Putin, during an interview with US TV presenter Tucker Carlson, accused Boris Johnson of sabotaging the peace deal with Ukraine in the spring of that year.
Responding to the interview, Mr Farage told GB News: “After that , as was said last night, [Russia] is not going to stop, and they are shifting huge amounts of their industrial production in Russia to defense. They will never give it up.
“Now we may find a lot of what's going on disgusting, but what has shocked me all along is the absolute unwillingness of anyone to think, shouldn't we at least have some kind of negotiation?”
In an interview on Thursday, Putin said a peace deal had been struck in Istanbul with Ukraine's chief negotiator but was thwarted by Mr Johnson.
He said: “Prime Minister Johnson came to talk us out of it and we missed the chance. Well, you missed it. The fact that they are submitting to the demands or entreaties of Mr Johnson, the former British prime minister, seems ridiculous.”
Mr Johnson has previously dismissed the claims as “complete nonsense” and “Russian propaganda”.
Mr Farage said of the claims: «I thought it was very interesting and he had said it before, but he said it more emphatically that peace talks could happen.»
«We could discuss a deal.» it is clear that he would like to make a deal on his own terms, but a deal could have been talked about, but it was thwarted by Boris Johnson.»

Tobias Ellwood, the former defense secretary, criticized Farage for the comments, describing them as “dangerous, defeatist and unpatriotic.”
“He also fails to understand the bigger picture of where our world is heading,” he said . «Other adversaries, especially China, will notice our failure to remain committed and will take full advantage of this.»
He added that «Farage needs to be careful not to become Lord Haw-Haw» with view of leading Nazi propaganda to Britain from Germany during World War II.
Ben Wallace, the former defense secretary, said: «It's a good thing Mr Farage wasn't in power in 1939.»
«We would all have spoken German.»
G Farage said: “The relentless insistence on continuing the war is alarming. The death toll is huge, but there is no progress in Ukraine.
“Our country is not directly threatened, so we could try to become peacemakers. It may fail, but it's worth a try.»
Mr Farage also spoke of Putin's threats of global war if the US sends troops to Ukraine, which is «an attempt by the Russian leader to try to further manipulate the debate in the US». States where right now funding for Ukraine is being held up in Congress.”
He said: “I think Putin sees that in a long war, the West is tired of funding Ukraine. I mean, he clearly used it for strong propaganda purposes.»
