Putin ordered to increase funding for Russian Science Foundation projects

MOSCOW, February 8 Russian President Vladimir Putin announced an increase in funding for projects of the Russian Science Foundation.
«We have expanded the mandates of the Russian Science Foundation. In addition to supporting fundamental research, the foundation has been financing key applied projects since 2023. There are significant results here. Thanks to new technical solutions, we have been able to significantly increase the production of microwave electronics. Very soon it is planned to launch the first products on the market at based on domestic photonic integrated circuits, which will allow Russia to increase its self-sufficiency,” he said at a meeting of the Council for Science and Education on Thursday.
The President called on ministries and departments to actively cooperate with the Fund and proposed a competitive selection of projects in the civil sphere. Putin added that it is necessary to increase funding for applied projects supported by the Foundation.

«And to do this not by redistributing resources from the state program for scientific and technological development, but by thinking about additional sources. This is not an easy task. But, nevertheless, we need to think about it and we need to move in this direction. At the same time, it is necessary to maintain the amount of support for the Fund’s fundamental programs,” Putin specified.
