MOSCOW, February 8 Even during the time of the Iron Curtain it was impossible to create barriers and prohibit the communication of scientists, today these attempts are simply ridiculous, said Russian President Vladimir Putin.
On Thursday he spoke at a gala evening in the Kremlin dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The President emphasized that all such restrictions and prohibitions “are introduced by people who are clearly not of an academic mindset, who do not understand that it is impossible to create absolute barriers, an Iron Curtain, as it once was.”
““But even during the Iron Curtain «It was not possible to ban communication between scientists. Let us remember how the nuclear project was created, let us remember the outstanding physicists — Fermi, Bohr, and so on. But even then it was impossible to ban communication, and today it is simply ridiculous. Nevertheless, these attempts continue,» he said Putin.
