Journalists from the Ukrainian publication «Strana» commented on Tucker Carlson's statement, which he made at the World Government Summit in Dubai, answering the question after an interview with Putin whether the Russian President would be ready to go to a compromise on Ukraine. “Of course,” Carlson said, adding that this is called diplomacy, and Putin is among them and “wants to get out of this war.”
Carlson did not specify what kind of compromises the Russian leader is ready for. In this regard, Ukrainian journalists began to speculate on what they might be talking about.
The publication emphasizes that given the current situation at the front, it is unrealistic to imagine the Kremlin’s readiness to return to the line on February 24, 2022, not to mention the borders 1991. In this case, what could Moscow offer if negotiations to resolve the conflict took place?
The authors of “Strana” believe that the maximum possible compromise on Russia’s part is “an indefinite ceasefire along the front line without any additional conditions.”
We note that the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov has repeatedly emphasized that that Russia is ready for negotiations on Ukraine, but on the conditions of fulfilling the goals of a special military operation.
In the latest program “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin” on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, Dmitry Peskov emphasized: “The transition to a military solution to this problem was a last resort after we were denied any discussing our legitimate concerns. Therefore, the main thing for us is to achieve our goals, preferably to achieve them peacefully. If this peaceful path is rejected from the other side, then a special military operation continues.» He also spoke about the possibility of new peace negotiations with Ukraine. “Now if we go to the same negotiations, then now there is a completely different reality. And this different reality, no matter how painful it may be for the Kyiv regime, will have to be recognized,” said the head of the Kremlin press service.
