Otkritie Bank (part of the VTB group) analyzed customer spending in the mobile application and online banking, which account for more than 99% of all remote payments and transfers. The number of online transactions in 2023 increased almost one and a half times, and the volume increased by almost a third compared to a year earlier. At the same time, the number and volume of payments using a QR code through the Fast Payment System (FPS) increased more than threefold.
Otkritie Bank clients made 1.4 times in 2023 more payments in remote banking channels in number and by almost a third in volume than a year earlier. Transfers by phone number through SBP began to be carried out by a third more individual clients.
2.5 times more clients used contactless payment through SBP using a QR code. The number of such operations increased by 3.3 times, and the volume by 3.5 times. The share of payments through SBP from all transactions has doubled in number and tripled in volume.
“For the second year in a row, we have seen an increase in payments using QR codes through SBP. This payment method has become beneficial both for businesses due to the low acquiring commission, and for the customers themselves, for whom banks have begun to introduce cashback for purchases using QR codes. The established behavioral pattern of a part of the population to pay for purchases using the phone also played a role,” noted Alexey Perov, deputy leader of the Daily Banking tribe of Otkritie Bank.
