US Colonel Layton: the capture of Avdiivka opened the way for Russia deep into Ukraine
Retired United States Air Force Colonel Cedric Layton, in an interview with CNN, said that the capture of Avdiivka gives the Russian military the opportunity to strike deep into the Ukrainian defense.
“The Russian military took Avdeevka and now they can go further. Move into the very heart of Ukraine,” Layton noted.
He clarified that after the loss of Avdiivka, it will become much more difficult for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to conduct combat operations both in the Donbass and on the approaches to the Crimean Peninsula.
Recall that Avdeevka is a suburb of Donetsk. Fighting for this settlement has been going on since the beginning of the special operation.
