ST. PETERSBURG, February 23 The alleged mastermind of the 24-year-old murder, as well as his possible accomplice, were detained in St. Petersburg, the press service of the regional headquarters reported Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
According to the department, on January 26, 2000, the body of a 24-year-old man with gunshot wounds was found in the hall of the hostel at 9 Sirenevy Boulevard. An eyewitness who suffered gunshot wounds was also taken to the hospital from the scene. A criminal case was opened under article of murder.

According to the police, the 53-year-old man allegedly developed a murder plan and found the perpetrators “against the background of personal hostility towards the deceased.” After unidentified persons carried out the “order,” the suspect turned to his acquaintance, who had previously been convicted several times, who helped him hide traces of the crime and provide an alibi.
The GUMVD does not provide personal information about detainees. According to a law enforcement source, the alleged mastermind of the 2000 murder is Oleg Kastelo, who, according to open sources, is a co-founder of the Griboedov club in a former bomb shelter on Ligovsky Prospekt in St. Petersburg, which was especially popular in the late 1990s.
According to the online newspaper Fontanka, Castelo's bodyguard was allegedly the victim of a contract killing. I do not yet have official confirmation of this information.
