MOSCOW, February 23 The second international documentary film festival «RT.Doc: Time of Heroes» opened in Moscow, the correspondent reports.
The opening ceremony of the festival began with a speech by the general producer of RT.Doc Ekaterina Yakovleva, who congratulated on Defender of the Fatherland Day and declared a minute of silence for the fallen soldiers. She especially noted the work of journalists, remembering the news agency’s military correspondent Rostislav Zhuravlev and military correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky.
The editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya media group and the RT television channel Margarita Simonyan recorded a video message to the festival guests.
«A low bow and thanks to all the heroes of these wonderful films and those who were not included in these films, to all those who are now defending our homeland, our truth, our Russian world… I hope that what you will do these days: you will watch great movies, great poems, great music, written and made by very good people, I hope that everything will give you pleasure. Thank you for coming,” said Simonyan.
In addition, she thanked the filmmakers who, risking their lives, risking death or becoming disabled, go to the front line to “film and show the whole world about our truth.”
Also, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova made a video message at the festival; she saw the symbolism of the beginning of the festival on Defender of the Fatherland Day. “The mission of the creators of documentary films entered into the conditions of artificial Russophobia, which is imposed on the whole world by representatives of an aggressive minority, that is, the countries of the collective West. They are unsuccessfully, but zealously trying to block the truth and objective facts with a stream of lies, the creation of hastily fakes, the substitution of facts, which is why it is especially What is important is the honest, truthful view of the filmmakers: directors, screenwriters, producers, cameramen,” Zakharova noted.
The audience was shown the film “Military Correspondents-3: He Prays in the Language of God” directed by Klim Poplavsky. In the film, he revealed the off-screen life of a military journalist on the front line. Director Klim Poplavsky said that he was inspired to create the film by “cool men with huge hearts.” He admitted that he was attached to the RT military correspondent in Arabic, Sargon Hadaya, like a keychain. Klim Poplavsky came to the documentary film festival with his wife and daughter, as well as his mother, actress Yana Poplavskaya.
