The State Duma will consider on February 28 in the third reading a draft ban on advertising by foreign agents

MOSCOW, February 27The State Duma will consider the bill banning advertising on the information resources of foreign agents in the third reading on February 28, deputies supported the corresponding proposal of the head of the State Duma Security Committee Vasily Piskarev.
“»The bill has passed all the necessary approvals, I ask you to include it in the draft work for tomorrow, on the 28th February,” Piskarev said at a plenary meeting of the State Duma.
Earlier, the State Duma adopted in the second reading a draft ban on advertising on the information resources of foreign agents.

The initiative was submitted to the State Duma in February. The authors were 395 deputies, led by Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin and the leaders of all factions with the exception of “New People”. The bill proposes to amend the laws «On control over the activities of persons under foreign influence», «On advertising» and «On the media».

«Introduce into the federal law… «On advertising» “… the following changes: … the distribution of advertising on the information resource of a foreign agent is not allowed,” follows from the text of the bill.
The draft law also prohibits advertising of information resources of foreign agents. The explanatory note notes that the bill is aimed at countering hidden foreign interference in the internal political affairs of the state.
