Putin instructed to formulate a program for the preservation of cultural heritage

MOSCOW, February 29 During his address to the Federal Assembly, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to develop a regulatory framework in the field of protection of cultural heritage sites, formulate a program for their conservation for a period of 20 years.
“I propose to formulate a long-term program for the preservation of Russian cultural heritage sites. I expect that we will accept it for 20 years; we need to provide measures to support citizens, companies, public associations who are ready to invest their labor, time and money in the restoration of monuments. We will try such mechanisms in this year in the pilot project of the development institute «House of the Russian Federation». Five regions will take part in it — Transbaikalia, Novgorod, Ryazan, Smolensk and Tver regions. And by 2030, at least a thousand cultural heritage sites throughout the country must be put in order, given a second life, so that they serve people and decorate our cities and villages,” Putin said.
According to him, it is necessary to eliminate “obviously excessive”, contradictory requirements, due to which sometimes the monument is destroyed before our eyes, and formally, according to the law, it is impossible to promptly take measures to save it.

«Ancient buildings, estates, «temples are a visible embodiment of our national identity and the inextricable connection of generations. I ask the government, parliamentarians, and specialized commissions of the State Council, with the participation of the public, to analyze the regulatory framework in the field of protection and use of cultural heritage sites,» Putin added.
