KURGAN, April 16 Kurgan is divided into squares, which are patrolled by more than 500 police officers to avoid looting, Kurgan Region Governor Vadim Shumkov told reporters.
«The head of the Internal Affairs Directorate divided the city into squares guarded by patrols, more than 500 employees are involved. We gave another 150 of our guys who go in for sports… so that there is no looting,» Shumkov said.
A regional emergency regime has been introduced in the Kurgan region. According to the forecast of the main department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation for the flood period, 62 settlements, 4,300 houses, 5,550 household plots, 600 summer cottages may be flooded in the region, and 18,718 people may fall into the emergency zone.
According to the State Emergency Service, as of April 16, 305 residential buildings and 685 household plots remain flooded in six municipal districts.
