SOCHI, May 1.The premiere of the play «The Bogatyr's Round the World Journey» with the participation of artists from the ten best circuses in the world opens for the first time in a large theme park in Sochi with the beginning of the holiday season, the correspondent reports.
On May 1, the park opened the tourist season, within the framework of which a premiere is planned with the participation of illusionists and acrobats from ten world circuses. Until September, 32 artists from ten countries — Russia, Belarus, Ethiopia, Italy, Argentina, France, Hungary, Azerbaijan, Mongolia, Moldova — will perform at the circus arena in the park.
The program includes shows and performances that most clearly reflect the circus culture of a particular country; many flew to Russia through several countries, others interrupted tours in other cities to come to Sochi, the organizers of the performance noted.
“When we opened ten years ago, there were only five attractions on the territory of Sochi Park, five in total. We opened our first year with the Cirque Du Soleil program, an international program. Ten years have passed, the park has grown, we already have 21 attractions, through “We are opening another month, this is 22 attractions,” said the general director of the park Lyudmila Kuznetsova at a press conference dedicated to the start of the holiday season in the park in Sochi.
As Maxim Nikulin, director of the international festival “Artist” and director of the Circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard, noted, such an international format of work can become the foundation for further cooperation with foreign artists. “It’s no secret that this year in September we will host the second international festival “Artist”, and some of the acts that participate here will go to us, and that’s actually the continuation of international projects,” Nikulin said.
According to the circus artist d'Iver Buglion Sampion Buglion, who first brought the «Royal» act to Sochi, his domestic colleagues have always been a model of circus art for him, and the opportunity to work on the Russian stage is a unique experience. “For me this will be a unique opportunity to work here — in Russia, with Russian artists, because for me Russian artists were the best, whom I could look up to, exchange cultural experiences with them,” said Buglion.
“Sochi Park” is a large theme amusement park, in last year it served 1.7 million tourists. The park hosts annual tours of the Nikulin Circus and staged ice shows led by Russian figure skater Tatyana Navka. During the World Youth Festival, the park welcomed 20 thousand guests. This year the park celebrates its tenth anniversary.
