ST. PETERSBURG, May 3. Three children who lived in a St. Petersburg basement with their father and were placed in a social institution ended up in the hospital with ARVI, they are already healthy, but remain in quarantine there, the office of the Commissioner for Children’s Rights in St. Petersburg reported.
In April, three boys born in 2017, 2020 and 2022 were found in the basement of a house on Moskovskoye Highway in St. Petersburg. The children lived with a 41-year-old man, who identified himself as their biological father, in unsanitary conditions. They were placed in a social institution. The police reported that a criminal case had been initiated against the parents for failure to fulfill their duties in raising children. The city headquarters of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, which organized the inspection, reported that their mother had already been brought to administrative responsibility in this regard; at the time the children were discovered, she was in another region.
“About a week ago, the children fell ill with ARVI and were sent to the hospital. Now they are completely healthy, but remain there in quarantine, since they had not previously received any necessary vaccinations,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
According to him, the mother has not yet come for the boys. The father delivers parcels to them, but, according to the Children's Ombudsman's Office, he is not involved in preparing documents that would legally secure the status of a parent.
