Children on the Internet may face threats of cyberbullying, sexting and fraud, and parents, in order to avoid negative consequences due to this, need to teach children the rules safety online, said pediatrician, head of the pediatric department of the children's clinic of the Moscow Region Vidnovskaya Clinical Hospital, Ramil Shakhveledov.

However, despite all the advantages, the Internet also poses many dangers, especially for our children. Many children become victims of cyberbullying when other users people on the Internet insult, humiliate or intimidate them through social networks, instant messengers or forums. Another threat to children, according to the pediatrician, is sexting. It involves correspondence along with the exchange of intimate photographs and explicit messages. For example, children may send nude photos or videos of themselves to other Internet users, potentially leading to blackmail, extortion, or dissemination of this material without their consent.
Criminals also actively use online grooming as a form of cyber aggression. It involves the practice by attackers of various methods to gain the trust of children in order to force them to share personal information or meet with them in person. This could lead to sexual assault or kidnapping.
In addition , children can become victims of scammers who try to get money or personal information from them. For example, they may offer free gifts or services in exchange for providing bank card information.
«The Internet is a powerful tool, but it can also be a dangerous place for our children. Parents need to be aware of the risks and take steps to protect their children. It is important to teach children internet safety, monitor their activity and use of software to filter content,» the pediatrician added.
