BMW M GmbH has presented a new top version of the current BMW M4 coupe, designated CS, it will go on sale before the end of the current year month at a price from 160,000 euros.
In 2022, the BMW Group celebrated the 50th anniversary of its subsidiary sports division BMW M GmbH and for the occasion released several special versions of its models, including the radically lightweight BMW M4 CSL coupe and the related collectible sports car BMW 3.0 CSL with a manual transmission. The BMW M4 CSL set a Nurburgring record in the class of production mid-range cars: it drove the legendary Nordschleife in 7 minutes 20.207 s, and last year BMW test driver Jörg Weidinger improved this time and now the record is 7 minutes 18.137 s . The BMW M4 CSL was produced in 1000 copies and has already left the stage, so now the top version of the M4 coupe is the CS.

Let us remind you that at the beginning of this year the regular BMW M4 underwent restyling, so the BMW M4 CS has already received an updated body. Last year, the CS version also appeared on the current BMW M3 sedan – the new BMW M4 CS is technically not much different from it, but the coupe, as usual, has a higher status and is therefore more expensive. The letters CS stand for Competition, Sport. The letter L in the BMW M4 CSL means Lightweight, that is, “lightweight”. The BMW M4 CS does not have the letter L in its designation, but nevertheless it is 15 kg lighter than the all-wheel drive BMW M4 Competition coupe on which it is based; curb weight is 1760 and 1775 kg, respectively.

Features of the BMW M4 CS include a carbon fiber hood and roof, a carbon fiber front spoiler and mirror caps, a carbon fiber spoiler on the trunk lid and a diffuser in the rear bumper, a lightweight exhaust system with a titanium muffler, yellow daytime running lights, and rear lights with laser threads. Openwork wheels are the same as those of the BMW M4 CSL, front tire size is 275/35 ZR 19, rear tire size is 285/30 ZR 20.

In the interior of the BMW M4 CS, many elements are also made of carbon fiber; bucket seats with carbon fiber frame elements are installed in the front; the rear seats have been preserved (the BMW M4 CSL does not have them). The panoramic dual-screen display on the front panel, consisting of a 12.3-inch instrument screen and a 14.9-inch multimedia display, features model-specific graphics and a telemetry mode for racetrack driving. Operational information is also displayed on a standard projection screen on the windshield. Climate control is dual-zone (the BMW M4 CSL has a lightweight single-zone), a powerful Harman Kardon audio system is also available.

The 3.0-liter S58 petrol twin-turbo engine under the hood of the BMW M4 CS is covered with a power strut (less developed than that of the BMW M4 CSL), its maximum output is 550 hp. at 6250 rpm and 650 Nm at 2750-5950 rpm, the cutoff is triggered at 7200 rpm. The transmission is an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic. M xDrive all-wheel drive, an active rear differential and a specially tuned sports suspension with adaptive dampers are standard on the BMW M4 CS. The power take-off clutch to the front axle is forcibly turned off in drift mode, that is, the coupe becomes rear-wheel drive. Standard powerful brakes with perforated discs can be replaced for an additional fee with even more powerful carbon-ceramic brakes.

The BMW M4 CS accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of 302 km/h It is noteworthy that BMW has already driven the M4 CS around the Nürburgring Nordschleife and boasted of the result – 7 min 21.989 s, that is, the all-wheel drive BMW M4 CS is slower than the rear-wheel drive BMW M4 CSL, but faster than the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 from the official Nürburgring record table, its time is 7 minutes 23.164 seconds. In general, the BMW M4 CS drives decently, it is slightly cheaper than the BMW M4 CSL, for which they asked from 165,200 euros, and at the same time there is no limited edition – there is enough for everyone.
