MOSCOW, May 8.Russia's share in the global logistics market today is less than 1%, but given its location and capabilities, there is great potential for the development of transport corridors and transit traffic, said the founder, chairman of the board of directors of the Delo group of companies, Sergei Shishkarev, as part of the day of national priorities «Effective and competitive economy» at the exhibition-forum «Russia».
«»The global logistics market today is worth 10.5 trillion dollars. Russia in this market occupies or provides transportation worth less than 1%… And taking into account the fact that our country is the longest country and continent in fact, then our access to three oceans: the Pacific in the Far East, the Arctic in the north and the Atlantic in the west — such open spaces and opportunities, of course, provide potential for the development of transit transportation,” said Shishkarev.
He especially emphasized that logistics and the development of transport infrastructure are the drivers of the entire Russian economy. “This is not only ensuring Russian exports and imports, but it is also the possibility of transportation… from Southeast Asia to Europe and back. And, of course, transport is the development of mechanical engineering, this is the development of means of production… Essentially through transport The whole economy is developing,” added Shishkarev.
In this regard, he called it very important to concentrate on the development of transport corridors, and first of all, the North-South corridor, which would provide Russia with access through Iran to the fourth ocean — the Indian Ocean. “This is an opportunity to transport up to 100 million tons of cargo along the double-track Russian track, this is large additional revenues to budgets at various levels. But the most important thing is the geopolitical and geo-economic independence of Russia,” the founder of the Delo group is confident.
The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to increase transportation along international transport corridors by at least 1.5 times by 2030 compared to the level of 2021.
