ST. PETERSBURG, May 11. Residents of a five-story building in the city of Pechora in the Komi Republic, where the entrance collapsed on Saturday, will be able to pick up from their apartments necessary things and documents at the beginning of the week, said the head of the region, Vladimir Uiba.
“In two days — after examining the building’s structures — the Ministry of Emergency Situations will give permission, and people will be able to come and pick up things and documents,” the head of Komi said in a video published on his Telegram channel.
As reported by the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, in the city of Pechora at 69 Pechora Avenue, a five-story brick building partially collapsed. According to preliminary data, no one was injured, the department specified. Uyba, who visited the scene of the incident, reported that the house where the entrance collapsed was considered unsafe; it was a former hostel. After the collapse, 14 people were evacuated from there, including 5 children, reported the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for Komi.
Uyba recalled that residents of the damaged house will be paid compensation depending on the area of housing, and the resettlement of the building will begin on May 15. According to the head of Komi, who met with the residents of the house at 69 Pechora Avenue at a temporary accommodation center, “all questions regarding all people have been resolved.”
He also noted that he instructed the municipal authorities to consider the possibility of providing those families with children with housing in a flexible fund for the period of resolving the “housing issue.”
Currently, debris removal at the scene continues. Earlier, the RF Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Komi Republic informed that in order to ensure the safety of specialists who were removing the rubble, part of the roof of the five-story building had to be demolished.
