Now the process of producing cars of the revived Russian brand includes welding and painting. As an option, customers will be offered a two-tone body.
The Moskvich brand returned to service in the spring of 2022. The current line includes the Moskvich 3 crossover, its all-electric version Moskvich 3e, as well as the Moskvich 6 liftback. In the future, it will expand due to the previously announced Moskvich 5 SUV and the already revealed design of the flagship three-row SUV, which is called Moskvich 8.
The production of cars under the Moskvich brand is established at the capital’s plant, which previously belonged to the French company Renault. Initially, cars were produced here using the large-unit assembly method, but in February the transition to small-unit assembly was announced. Now the capital's enterprise has announced the start of mass production of brand cars using full-cycle technology.
The start of production of cars at the Moskvich plant using full-cycle technology was given by the mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin and the general director of PJSC «KAMAZ» Sergey Kogogin. Now the entire process of car production is carried out at the capital's enterprise. Since the beginning of this year, the processes of welding, anti-corrosion protection, painting, assembly and quality control have been localized here.

As the company said, about 50 components were used during large-scale assembly, and now more than 900 parts are used to produce Moskvich vehicles. According to the manufacturer’s calculations, the transition to small-unit assembly will significantly reduce logistics costs (by 25%). As part of the transition to CKD, a new welding equipment system was installed at the plant; it includes 114 new robots and 145 unmanned delivery vehicles. It is also known that this allowed the creation of 490 new jobs.
In preparation for serial production using full-cycle technology, the company assembled more than 70 test machines: these prototypes were sent for quality checks, which they successfully passed. 49 additional quality control stages have been added and automated, including 3D measurements, ultrasonic measurements, and body paint control.
Now, as an option, buyers of Moskvich cars will be offered a two-tone body: such cars will have a black roof with a contrasting rest (the list of options includes red, white, gray and blue).
Recall that today's Muscovites are the result of badge engineering of Chinese models. Thus, the “donor” for Moskvich 3 was the JAC JS4, and for its all-electric version – the JAC iEVS4. Liftback Moskvich 6 is a “twin” of Sehol Yao (that is, one of the varieties of JAC J7). It is known that the future Moskvich 5 SUV is based on the Sehol X6 (created on the basis of the JAC Refine S5), and the announced flagship Moskvich 8 is based on the JAC X8 Plus.
