Only a week left until the deadline for accepting applications for the National Award in the field of future technologies “Challenge”. The goal of the award is to make scientific discoveries and scientists symbols of success in modern Russia, as well as to create conditions for the practical implementation of future technologies.
In 2024, you can apply for the Challenge Prize in five categories:
- “Perspective” — for a scientific achievement that has influenced the dynamics of the development of science and technology (awarded to participants under 35 years of age at the time of application);
- “Scientist of the Year” — for total personal contribution and change in the landscape of science and technology;
- “Engineering Solution” — for an important invention or creation new technology;
- “Breakthrough” — for scientific research that has made it possible to solve an important scientific or technological problem;
- Discovery («Discovery») — an international nomination for an important discovery that influenced the development of science and technology.
The Discovery nomination appeared in 2024, and any scientist can apply for it, regardless of citizenship and country of residence. This nomination demonstrates Russia's openness to dialogue in the field of scientific and technical cooperation, and also confirms that there are no borders for science.
“We want to create the best scientific prize in the world: authoritative, objective, with the highest level of applications. We boldly set our sights on such an ambitious goal. And I want to wish courage to scientists — not to be afraid to put forward their work, to tell the whole world about their achievements,” commented Artem Oganov, chairman of the scientific committee of the Challenge Prize.

The national award in the field of future technologies “Challenge” was established and organized by the Foundation for the Development of Scientific and Cultural Relations “Challenge” jointly with Gazprombank. The partners of the award are the state corporation Rosatom and the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Moscow government. The Challenge Prize is timed to coincide with the Decade of Science and Technology announced in 2022 and is designed to recognize breakthrough ideas and inventions that are changing the landscape of modern science and the lives of every person.
