Orders for a three-door electric SUV have started in Vietnam. Like other “electric trains” of the brand, the new product has two price lists: one includes the purchase of a battery along with the car, and the second includes its rental.
The small electric cross VinFast VF 3 first appeared as a concept last summer, and at the beginning of 2024 the show car was brought to Las Vegas for the CES exhibition. Now, in the brand’s native Vietnam, a production car has been presented, in addition, local dealers have opened applications. Let us remind you that the VinFast brand was founded in 2017 by the first Vietnamese dollar billionaire, who made his fortune on instant noodles and real estate. At first, the company produced licensed copies of the Opel hatch and BMW models with internal combustion engines, but then switched to electric cars of its own design: today, along with the VF 3, the range includes six more different SUVs, plus a pickup truck is on the way.

Externally, the commercial VinFast VF 3 generally repeated its harbinger, except that the rear lights turned out to be a little different. The SUV has an angular three-door body, rather massive unpainted bumpers, which are combined with impressive black wheel arches, and “gaps” between the roof and the rear pillars. The crossover “stands” on 16-inch wheels.

VF 3 length is 3190 mm, width – 1679 mm, height – 1622 mm, wheelbase – 2075 mm. Thus, in terms of the first and last indicators, the SUV was inferior to the local pre-reform hatchback Kia Morning/Picanto (3595 and 2400 mm, respectively; the restyled Kia hatch will reach Vietnam later). The passport ground clearance of the new VinFast is 191 mm versus 151 mm for the Picanto.

In the cabin there is a two-spoke truncated steering wheel without buttons and vertical side air deflectors. There is no separate tidy, which was in last year’s sketches: all indicators are displayed on the central 10-inch display. The gallery can accommodate two passengers. If you fold the second row of seats, you will free up space for luggage (285 liters). So far, the only equipment available for order, and you can’t call it rich: there are halogen headlights, air conditioning, driver’s airbag, ABS and a rear view camera.
An electric motor with a power of 43.5 hp is installed on the rear axle of the SUV. (110 Nm), VinFast VF 3 is equipped with a battery with a capacity of only 18.64 kWh. Power reserve – 210 km according to the outdated NEDC cycle. The electric car will reach the first “hundred” in 19.3 seconds.

The new product, in fact, , two price lists, because VinFast offers the battery for rent. A crossover equipped with a battery now costs from 315 million dong, which is equivalent to approximately 1.18 million rubles at the current exchange rate. When ordering a VF 3 with a rented battery, the model costs from 235 million dong (about 884,000 rubles): in this case, the monthly fee will be from 900 thousand to 2 million dong (3384 — 7520 rubles) depending on the mileage. Be that as it may, the same petrol Kia Picanto still costs more — at least 349 million VND (1.3 million rubles).
Shipment of VinFast VF 3 to customers will start later this year . Subsequently, the brand intends to bring the subcompact electric cross to other markets.
