Moscow metro passengers began to consume three times more mobile content

MOSCOW, May 15. Over the past year, Moscow metro passengers began to consume 2.5 times more content on social networks and instant messengers, and traffic on video platforms also increased 2.5 times, Beeline reports.
The operator analyzed the profile of mobile Internet consumption in the capital’s metro, which Wednesday turns 89.
In addition, the study notes, more and more users are making purchases on marketplaces while traveling on the subway. This category has grown 4 times over the year, and on the Big Circle Line (BCL) – 5 times.
According to the operator, mobile traffic in the Moscow metro has grown by an average of 34% over the past year, Beeline reports.
“Over the last year alone, mobile traffic in the subway has grown by an average of 34%, and on the Big Circle Line (BKL) – by 2.7 times. This record figure is associated, first of all, with the opening of new stations last year and the development of mobile In terms of traffic volume, BKL is still in 4th place, and the most pumping metro lines remain Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya, where traffic growth was 17%, Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya (+18%) and Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line (+21%),” – the message says.
The most “pumping” metro station was Kyiv. “Users download 2 TB of content here every day. Also, the Kyiv station is the leader in the total number of Internet sessions – 120 million per month. Following it is Komsomolskaya – 118 million monthly,” the Beeline added.
During trips, subscribers also actively use voice communication. Thus, the longest conversations were recorded at several stations: Komsomolskaya, Okruzhnaya and Tretyakovskaya, and they lasted 2 hours.
“This year the Moscow Metro turns 89 years old. Beeline was one of the first among operators to build a base station in the metro at Kurskaya station 22 years ago. Millions of subscribers in Moscow use the metro every day, and it is important for us to create reliable communication coverage there for the comfort and safety of passengers,” Oleg Biryukov, director of the Moscow region of VimpelCom PJSC, is quoted in the message.
