MOSCOW, May 16. People's Artist of Russia Sergei Andriyaka died at the age of 65, said Vladimir Legoyda, Chairman of the Synodal Department of the Moscow Patriarchate for Relations of the Church with Society and the Media on the Telegram channel.
“»Sergei Nikolaevich Andriyaka passed away to the Lord early this morning. Doctors said , that his last words late last night were “I love everyone,” he wrote, calling for prayers for the repose of the soul of the deceased.
Farewell to the artist will be held on May 17 at the Academy of Watercolor and Fine Arts. He will be buried at the capital’s Vvedensky cemetery.<. br />
Sergei Andriyaka is a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, academician of the Russian Academy of Arts. Born on July 14, 1958 in Moscow. Participant of many Moscow, regional and foreign exhibitions (more than a thousand have taken place since 1985). His work is known in Germany, Switzerland, France, Austria, Japan, China and other countries.
In 1999 he founded the Sergei Andriyaka School of Watercolor and was its permanent artistic director. In 2012, a new educational institution opened — the Academy of Watercolor and Fine Arts of Sergei Andriyaka.
Andriyaka’s paintings are in the largest museums in the world and private collections. They also decorate the first building of the Kremlin, where the head of state works. The walls also feature works by Andriyaka's students, more than 200 paintings in total.
