Valiev with a doping ban – in Navka's show. Are you sure she won't get anything for this?

Kamila Valieva, disqualified for violating anti-doping rules, was announced for participation in Tatiana Navka's show “Ruslan and Lyudmila”, which will take place in Sochi this summer. The Sport correspondent is finding out whether the Russian figure skater will thus violate the conditions of serving her sentence.
Navka’s show will run from June 12 to October 2, and on the poster Valiev is indicated in first place on the list of participants. Next come Olympic champions Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov, Alina Zagitova, two-time Olympic silver medalists Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov.
Since then, Valieva has appeared in public several times, as they say, without skates. She was present next to the Russian President at the opening of the Future Games in Kazan, attended the World Youth Festival in Sochi, and went with her mother to the presidential elections (but did not vote herself, since she was not yet 18 years old at that time). Finally, I attended the inauguration of Vladimir Putin at the beginning of May in the Kremlin. But Valieva was not at any event related to figure skating.

Although, for example, it was planned for her to participate in the demonstration performances of Eteri Tutberidze’s team, which took place in March-April. However, in mid-February, an announcement appeared on the social networks of the show of the honored coach of Russia that Valieva would not perform on the tour. “Tim Tutberidze” did not give any explanation for the exclusion of the skater from the list of participants. All that remained was to accept the obvious version – such a move was connected with Valieva’s disqualification for doping.
But why, in fact, they decided not to use Camila in this show is not so obvious. The Anti-Doping Code states that a disqualified athlete may not, while serving the penalty, participate in any capacity in a competition or event sanctioned or organized by a code signatory, professional league, or government-sponsored event. And Tutberidze’s tour, despite the fact that the honored coach of Russia works in a public school, is a purely commercial event; the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) is not associated with it.

The answer, most likely, is formulated as follows: we decided not to take risks. For violating the rules for serving a ban, it can be extended, but everyone knows how Russia is now treated at the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), thanks to the pranksters Vovan and Lexus.

In addition, at the top of the leadership of Russian figure skating, according to rumors, they are afraid that the appearance of current skaters in the same show with Valieva may cause some kind of sanctions against them. Producer Ilya Averbukh spoke about this in a recent episode of the “Rink” show: “According to the rules of the International Skating Union, not only Kamila, but also all the guys performing with her in the same show fall into the disqualification zone. Because they also seem to support in absentia this situation.”
But in fact, this is not true, and you shouldn’t go too far with reinsurance either. According to the anti-doping code, performing in the same event with Valieva does not pose any risks for skaters. She does not train them in such shows, she is not considered an assistant. This is also stated in the code as something that cannot be done, but there is not a word there that it is forbidden to simply appear nearby or even receive money from the same cash register. So it's a shame if someone actually decided to look for a dark cat in a dark room when there wasn't one there.

Therefore, all that remains is to thank Navka, who decided to rely not on rumors, but on the current rules, and invited Valieva as an actress in her ice performances – which caused a wave of delight among her fans. Of course, if Camila performs in a commercial show, which this year did not receive a grant from the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, and, therefore, has nothing to do with government funding, then she will not violate the rules for serving disqualification. This was confirmed in a commentary for Sport by the General Director of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA), Veronika Loginova, who noted that Valieva consulted with her organization about participation in the events.
“RUSADA closely monitors how athletes comply with all the conditions for being disqualified. The case with the figure skater is no exception,” Loginova emphasized. “We are in contact with the athlete, we believe that this is the right example for young athletes, which speaks of how interaction must take place. The athlete really consults with RUSADA, with our lawyers on certain issues. We not only study specific events, shows or any other activity with the help of our lawyers, but also turn to the help of international centers, whose specialists assess the ability of athletes to participate. in them. For each event, the athlete receives explanations from us.”
Well, fans of Valieva’s talent can start buying tickets and booking hotels in Sochi – in the summer the figure skater will definitely perform on the Black Sea coast. True, there are no exact dates for her participation in the show yet. On Tuesday, a module for selling tickets for “Ruslan and Lyudmila” appeared on the site, but in addition to Kamila, Alina Zagitova, Victoria Sinitsina and Evgenia Tarasova were also announced in the leading role. How these skaters will be distributed according to the dates of the show, scheduled from June 12 to October 2, will be known later.
