Zelensky made a new statement about the situation near Kharkov

Zelensky explained the breakthrough of the Russian Armed Forces in the Kharkov region by the lack of air defense

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, during a conversation with journalists, explained how the Russian army broke through in the Kharkov region if Kiev was preparing for an offensive by the Russian Armed Forces.

According to Zelensky, this happened due to the fact that Ukraine has a lack of air defense, and the West delayed the supply of weapons.

«They operate at a distance, where they have an advantage, with air bombs and artillery,» — the Ukrainian publication «Strana» quotes Zelensky's words.

As for the defensive structures, to which there were many complaints, Zelensky explained that the first line of defense in the Kharkov region was built by the military themselves under fire, so it is imperfect. According to him, the main lines of defense have been built more thoroughly.

Zelensky named Volchansk as the target of the offensive of the Russian Armed Forces. He also told reporters that efforts are being made to stabilize the situation; reserve units have been deployed to the Kharkov region, as well as from some other directions.
