The Russian Foreign Ministry recommended that fellow citizens not visit Afghanistan
The Russian Foreign Ministry strongly recommended that Russians refrain from visiting Afghanistan for both personal and tourist purposes.
Moscow is alarmed by reports of a new terrorist attack on foreign tourists in Afghanistan. On May 17, three people, all Spanish citizens, were killed as a result of shelling by unidentified persons at a market in the city of Bamiyan. Another four foreigners (from Australia, Spain, Lithuania and Norway) were seriously injured.
The next day, the Aamaj News news agency, citing the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Taliban movement (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) that controls Afghanistan, Abdul Matina Kani clarified that the death toll as a result of the armed attack in Bamiyan on foreign tourists and those accompanying them has increased to six people.
Seven suspects of involvement in this attack were arrested.
