The wife of Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Vadim Shamarin, who was arrested on charges of taking a bribe, commented on her husband’s arrest. She stated that her husband was not guilty. Izvestia writes about this with reference to a source.

According to the publication, Elizaveta Shamarina believes that her husband was framed, since the testimony of colleagues indicated that he himself asked for the money.

The newspaper’s interlocutor clarified that, according to his wife’s information, the day before the arrest the general met with a friend, who himself loaned him 2 million rubles for a wedding gift for his son. A day later, he was searched.

Earlier, a member of the State Duma Defense Committee, General Viktor Sobolev, suggested what the investigation into the head of the Main Communications Directorate of the RF Armed Forces, General Shamarin, might be connected with. According to the deputy, “not everything may be so clean” there, and the detained officer could have something to do with special orders.
