MOSCOW, May 28. Fireproof fragments of the Progress MS-25 cargo ship, which undocked from the International Space Station, were sunk in a non-navigable area of the Pacific Ocean, Roscosmos reported «.
“The Progress MS-25 cargo ship, which operated on the International Space Station for about six months, was deorbited, entered the atmosphere and collapsed. According to the Mission Control Center, unburned structural elements of the ship fell in a non-navigable area of the South Pacific Ocean,” — the message says.
The ship undocked from the Poisk module of the Russian segment of the station at 11.39 Moscow time. At 14.48 Moscow time its propulsion system was turned on, producing the impulse necessary for deorbiting.
Progress MS-25 was launched on December 1, 2023 and docked with the station two days later. It delivered more than 2.5 tons of cargo to the ISS, including fuel, drinking water, and equipment for conducting scientific experiments. In particular, the Quail experiment was delivered into orbit on this ship to study the development of Japanese quail embryos in space conditions in a special incubator.
The launch of the next Progress MS-27 cargo ship, as previously reported by Roscosmos, is scheduled for May 30 at 12.43 Moscow time.
