Participants in a special military operation proposed their own version of punishment for the ex-commander of the 58th Army, Major General Ivan Popov, if his guilt is proven. /p>
In a conversation with the Daily Storm, the soldiers spoke positively about the general’s personal qualities and emphasized that he paid great attention to the needs of his subordinates.
In their opinion, the sale of metal structures, which Popov is accused of, could have been part of a barter — an exchange of surpluses for what the units lacked.
Participants in the battles near Rabotino, which bore the brunt of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the summer of 2023, also proposed returning the general to the combat zone as punishment.
We recall that earlier the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, Tatyana Moskalkova, stated that she was surprised by the court’s decision to leave General Popov in a pre-trial detention center; she promised to study the officer’s case and “see what arguments the court had.”
