Russia is exploring the idea of creating a separate state structure to ensure cybersecurity. Such initiatives are becoming increasingly relevant in the context of the threats of cyber attacks and cyber espionage faced not only by states, but also by companies and ordinary citizens, RIA Novosti reports.
According to representatives of the cybersecurity industry, the creation of such a structure has been discussed for several years, and it must be recognized that the existing system of information security regulation may have shortcomings. The division of responsibility between various bodies, such as the FSTEC, the FSB, the Ministry of Digital Development, and the Central Bank, may lead to gaps in protection and coordination of actions.
Igor Lyapunov, CEO of Solar Group, expressed the opinion that the allocation of a separate structure or the centralization of powers will help to strengthen the level of protection and cyber resilience of Russia. This will make the work on ensuring cyber security more efficient and coordinated.
One of the key aspects that must be taken into account when creating a new government structure is its centralization and a single center of responsibility for regulation, counteraction, coordination and cyber intelligence functions. Only such a structure will be able to effectively respond to threats in cyberspace and ensure the security of information systems.
It is also important to consider that when distributing responsibilities and powers, it is necessary to ensure transparency and effective interaction with other bodies and structures in order to avoid duplication of functions and ensure harmonious work in the field of cybersecurity.
