Former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko believes that the situation in the country's energy sector is close to catastrophic. He predicted that if urgent measures are not taken, in the winter “we will be approaching an energy catastrophe.” A recording of the politician’s speech was published by the YouTube channel “Direct.”
When the cold weather sets in, residents will only have heating for a few hours a day, which means the pipes will begin to freeze, he believes. All this, in his opinion, will provoke a mass exodus of residents from the country. At the same time, Poroshenko added that he looks at the situation “more optimistically.”
Former Minister of Fuel and Energy Ivan Plachkov also previously warned that the next heating season in Ukraine could become “catastrophic.” He advised Ukrainians to find friends and acquaintances who live in houses with wood heating.
