Karyn Marjorie, a social media influencer who has already amassed over 2 million social media followers
23 year old created an artificial intelligence app on social media where, for $1 (80p) a minute, she will be the client's virtual girlfriend.
The real person behind the chatbot is Karin Marjorie, a social media influencer , which has already amassed over 2 million social media followers on Snapchat, Instagram and YouTube.
She commissioned CarynAI, a voice chatbot developed by Forever Voices, which also built the chatbots of Steve Jobs, Taylor Swift, and Donald Trump.
According to The Washington Post, virtual Caryn Marjorie has already earned $100,000 from virtual partners in technology testing. When the project is fully up and running, Ms. Marjorie estimates it could bring in up to $5 million a month.
It was created by a company that analyzed 2,000 hours of content that the real Karin posted on YouTube. Inundated with messages, Ms Marjorie believes artificial intelligence will help her keep in touch with her followers who have already joined her Telegram group.
Virtual Karyn Marjorie has already earned $100,000, according to The Washington Post
«These fans of mine are very, very connected to me,» she told The Washington Post. “Because of this, they write to me every single day.
“About a year ago, I started to realize that it’s just not humanly possible for me to address all these messages, there are too many of them, and I actually feel a little bad that I can’t give this person, one on one kind of relationship with each person. I wish I could, but I just can't.”
She said the app was designed to help her fans deal with loneliness. The virtual Karin, who imitates her voice and mannerisms, is a little unnerving.
In one example of a video, a client suggests meeting up, driving around and enjoying a meal. She responds positively to his proposal for a virtual date, even if her voice seems slightly devoid of emotion.
Ms. Marjorie said the app does not respond to sexual harassment. But Fortune magazine, which tested the technology, found it to be. But overall, the content is mostly platonic.
John Meyer, chief executive of Forever Voices, acknowledges that there are potential ethical issues that he says the company will address.
