The Carlton Queen sank within an hour of capsizing for no apparent reason on April 24 near Hurghada
The boat was built in 2002 and was in the second trip after renovation last year. The vacationers were on the second day of a week-long diving holiday when it sank.
However, the guests have already complained that the ship is rocking from side to side, but the crew dispelled their fears.
Dr. Christian Hanson, 49, a software engineer from Rochdale who was on board the boat with his wife, said: “Imagine a bunch of people who have just been shipwrecked, in shorts and T-shirts, with no shoes on their feet, and they Are you able to put pressure on a company to offer you a free boat ride next year?
“We are not in a position to negotiate. We don't have power. We didn't think it would be very fair that after losing all our belongings, we were told to claim our insurance, who turn around and say the boat's insurance should pay.
“We lost everything – including our phones and passports – we don’t want a Ferrari. In a de facto Muslim country, many of the ladies in our group were left standing around in short trousers.”
Tourists endured “bed bugs and terrible food.”
Dr. Hanson recalls how the trials continued when they were transferred to a three-star local hotel on the beach.
He said, «We had eight hours of non-stop listening to terrible Egyptian techno rock because there was a wedding,» he said.
«The food at the hotel was terrible. , the rooms were infested with bed bugs and bed bugs in the bathrooms — we were eaten alive. Many of us refused to stay there the next day.»
Carlton Fleet claimed that the group signed a «release and waiver» and were instructed to «insure against loss or damage to equipment and property prior to boarding the boat» and that he had contacted the embassies.
He said he was «cooperating with the Egyptian authorities to determine the cause of the accident.»
