Jason Kennison, an Australian fundraising climber, died on Everest after he learned to walk again
An Australian who learned to walk again after he died in a car accident while descending from the summit of Everest.
Jason Kennison climbed to the roof of the world to raise money for victims of spinal cord injuries, but died descending.

A family statement said the 40-year-old man «reached his goal of reaching the top… he stood at the top of this world, but unfortunately he did not return home.»
Mr. Kennison's rise comes 17 years after he was told he would never be able to walk again after a 2006 car accident. He used his climb to raise money for spinal cord injuries in Australia.
He was part of an expedition organized by Asian Trekking. Dawa Steven Sherpa, managing director of the company, told the Himalayan Times newspaper that Mr. Kennison began exhibiting abnormal behavior from the southern summit.
Bad weather
Two Sherpa guides helped him descend to the balcony, which is located at an altitude of 8400 meters above sea level. According to the Sherpa, the guides descended to Camp Four after Kennison refused to move.
“Since the oxygen tanks they had with them were running out, they decided to descend to Camp Four, hoping to climb up again with oxygen. balloons to save him,” the Sherpa said.
However, the guides were unable to return immediately due to bad weather, the Himalayan Times reported.

Before heading out to Everest, Kennison told 7News, “I've always challenged myself to overcome these things within myself. Everest has become a symbol for me of overcoming these difficulties and achieving this.”
