The five foot long alligator was an 'emotional support' and is banned from entering baseball stadium.

Wally the Alligator was taken to the Philadelphia Phillies game against the Pittsburgh Pirates by owner Joey Henney to meet the players at Citizens Bank Park, but was rejected by the attendants.

Fans recounted the incident on social media, showing Wally in a harness hugging his fans outside the stadium after he was banned from entry.

“It wasn’t a big deal,” Henney said Sky News. “We were going to go down below [the stadium], but they were training before the game and couldn’t accommodate the visitors.

«They're going to grab us before they go to their next game,» he said. “Players will be able to meet him soon.”

The stadium's service animal policy states: “Certified service dogs or service dogs in training for guests with special needs are permitted. All other animals are prohibited.»

The alligator was adopted by Henny in 2015 after a friend caught him in Florida and dropped him off «as a joke.»

The creature has since amassed tens of thousands of followers on social media.

“The joke is on him now,” Mr. Henney said. «He gets a lot of attention from people and is known for his hugs and kisses.»

He previously called Wally his «best friend» and said the alligator shares his bed, adding that the animal has helped him to «significantly improve» his major depression.

«I've never met an alligator that didn't bite you,» Mr. Henney told the CBS Evening News last year.

To illustrate Given Wally's temperament, Mr. Henney stuck his hand into the alligator's mouth. «You're so crazy over the head, their instinct is to grab you [with their teeth] — but he doesn't,» he said.
