EAST COSMODROME (Amur region), Feb 29The Soyuz-2.1b rocket with the Fregat upper stage, the Meteor-M hydrometeorological apparatus No. 2-4, 17 Russian and one Iranian small satellites took off during the first launch from the Vostochny cosmodrome in 2024, the correspondent reported.
The rocket launched as planned at eight hours 43 minutes 26 seconds Moscow time. In nine minutes 23 seconds, it will launch the upper stage with satellites into low Earth orbit.
Later, the correspondent reported that the upper stage with the Meteor-M satellite No. 2-4 entered low-Earth orbit.

«There is a shutdown of the third stage engine. There is a separation of the head unit. The head unit <…> has been launched into the reference orbit,» said the launch commentator at the observation post.
After this, the Fregat will turn on its propulsion system twice and deliver the Meteor-M to the target orbit at an altitude of 820 kilometers. The separation of the satellite is expected 59 minutes 46 seconds after launch.
After the separation of the weather satellite, the upper stage will carry into orbit 16 devices of the Russian group of automatic identification system SITRO-AIS for tracking sea vessels and one remote satellite Earth sensing «Zorkiy-2M» (all 17 were manufactured by the Russian private company «Sputniks»).
In addition, on the eve of the launch, Iranian Minister of Information and Communication Technologies Isa Zarepour said that the Russian rocket will launch the Pars-1 satellite into orbit in the interests of scientists of the Islamic Republic.
