The Big SUV is the fourth premiere of the premium brand announced this year. Most likely, the model will be available exclusively as a hybrid.
The Wey brand was created by the Great Wall concern in 2016 and is positioned as a premium brand. First, the range included crossovers of the VV series (two Vs, not Ws), then they were replaced by a “coffee” line: until recently, it was represented by Mocha (aka Mocca), Latte and Macchiato SUVs. By the way, it was under the Wey brand that the Tank 300 frame SUV made its debut, but later the Tank was turned into a separate sub-brand. Well, the Chinese «premium» has lost customers. According to local media, from January to March of this year, only 3,400 SUVs were sold in the homeland: compared to the same period in 2022, the drop exceeded 70%! At the same time, for some reason, the Wey Macchiato crossover is not included in the overall statistics, although it is still present on the brand's consumer website. Be that as it may, but before the premium brand sold in China somewhere between 7,000 and 10,000 cars a month. The renewal of the lineup should help to restore the former glory.
So, a few days ago, a full-fledged presentation of the Wey Lanshan three-row hybrid crossover took place in the Celestial Empire (translated as Blue Mountain — this is an elite coffee variety), then orders were opened (their number has already exceeded 5,000). In addition, the brand announced a restyled Mocha SUV and the first Alpine minivan in its history. Well, in the second half of the year, another new SUV should enter the home market: this cross is declared the flagship, and it is only highlighted in the teaser so far — even the name is unknown.

Judging by the picture, the upcoming crossover will differ from other Wey models in a more brutal look, in addition, it may turn out to be the largest in the line. In the meantime, the title of the largest SUV belongs to Lanshan (length — 5156 mm, wheelbase — 3050 mm). The company also announced that the novelty will be offered in a six-seat version (Lanshan is also available today with a cabin for six).

Chinese specialized media, in turn, believe that the new flagship will be an all-wheel drive sequential hybrid with a DHT-PHEV installation from the same Wey Lanshan: it includes a 1.5 petrol turbo engine (works mainly in generator mode) and a pair of electric motors. The total output of such a Lanshan is 517 hp. and 933 Nm, the cross is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 44.5 kWh, only on electric traction the top-end hybrid can travel about 180 km (according to the WLTC cycle). At the same time, Wey Lanshan also has a simpler version — with one electric motor and a 36.7 kWh battery, the total output of this option is 330 hp. and 523 Nm, range in electric mode — 153 km.

Since the new SUV is destined for the flagship role, it will obviously be more expensive than Wey Lanshan. The latter costs from $39,800.
In Russia, the Wey brand is not officially represented today, but earlier one of its SUVs was caught in the Russian Federation, that is, it is possible that Great Wall will still bring the brand to our market.
