The new CEO of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) has admitted to witnessing misconduct during her ten-year tenure as the disgraced organization's chief economist.
Rain Newton-Smith, who took up her new role on Wednesday, insisted she «stand up and talk.» when she saw inappropriate behavior and helped colleagues express their dissatisfaction “through the appropriate channels.”
While the former Bank of England economist said she made sure any complaints were addressed and resolved", Ms. Newton-Smith was unable to tell the Times whether the HR director involved in their decision was subject to any action due to their own failures.
Ms. Newton-Smith left CBI just weeks before her predecessor, Tony Dunker, was fired. She worked for a month at Barclays before being promoted to a senior position without a formal recruitment process.
CBI is going through a 60-day review period, during which she says the organization will likely be renamed.

Mr. McBride acknowledged that the organization may face job cuts and many former members are unlikely to return to the organization in the near future.
"There is no doubt that in the future we will have there will be a smaller budget. because these members are not going to come back overnight" he said earlier this week after an independent review found the CBI was harboring «toxic» substances. sexual predators.
Ms. Newton-Smith's appointment has been criticized by some former employees, while others have praised her leadership and listening skills. She said, «I understand why people ask if I'm the right person?» given that I worked here during [a period when] some of the questions raised were front and center.»
However, she added: “Whether I saw wrongdoing or any employees raised the issue, I supported them to make sure they were heard. And I think that's really important.”
The CBI will hold an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) in June where its members will decide the future of the organization.
