David Cameron will now be known as Lord Cameron is from Chipping Norton after he chose the Cotswolds town as his territorial designation.
The former prime minister, who was named foreign secretary by Rishi Sunak this week in a move that stunned Westminster, lived in the region for more than two decades.
He was known as a member of the «Chipping Norton Group», an elite and controversial group living in and around the town, which is in Lord Cameron's former parish of Witney.
The group included Rebekah Brooks, a former News International executive and Rupert Murdoch's daughter Elizabeth. He came under scrutiny during the phone hacking scandal and included claims that the media had too cozy a relationship with politicians.
Lord Cameron, who lives in the village of Dean in Oxfordshire, resigned as an MP in 2016 after leaving the government.

Following his surprise return to Westminster, he is now listed on Parliament's website as «Lord Cameron of Chipping Norton».
He will will be presented to the House of Lords on Monday at a ceremony where he will take an oath of allegiance to the sovereign or make a solemn declaration.
This title distinguishes the former prime minister from Lord Cameron of Dillington, the former chairman of the Countryside Agency, who has sat in the House of Lords as a peer since 2004.
The recruitment of Chipping Norton, who is also considered to be among the that its members, TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson, met regularly until the phone hacking scandal broke in 2011.
Ms Brooks was arrested after being accused of phone hacking in 2012 but was acquitted two years later on charges of conspiracy to hack voicemails, pay government officials and conspire to pervert the course of justice.
Speaking after the sentencing, she said: “When I was arrested, it was at the center of a maelstrom of controversy. political and commentary.
“Some of it was fair, but a lot of it wasn’t, so I’m very grateful to the jury for coming to this decision.”
