Republican George Santos said he expects to be expelled from Congress after a scathing House Ethics Committee report representatives who found significant evidence of violations of the law by the deceitful New York representative.
In a defiant speech on Friday filled with ridicule and obscenities directed at his congressional colleagues, Santos said he was «not going anywhere.» But he acknowledged that his time as a member of Congress may soon be coming to an end.
«I know that I will be expelled when the expulsion resolution comes up for consideration.» , he said Friday night during a talk on X Spaces. “I've done the math over and over again, and it doesn't look good.”

The comments come a week after House Ethics Committee Republican Chairman Michael Guest introduced a resolution to expel Santos once the body returns from Thanksgiving break.
Although Santos survived two expulsion votes, many of his colleagues who previously opposed the initiative now say they support it, citing the results of the committee's months-long investigation into a wide range of alleged violations committed by Santos.
The report found that Santos used campaign funds for personal purposes, such as shopping at luxury stores and adult content websites, and then induced the campaign to file false or incomplete reports.
“Representative Santos sought to fraudulently exploit every aspect of his House candidacy for personal financial gain,” investigators wrote. They noted that he had not cooperated with the report and had repeatedly «evaded» direct requests for information.
On Friday, Santos said he did not want to disclose details of the report. , which he said were “slanderous” and “designed to force me out of my seat.” Any defense of his behavior, he said, could be used against him in a criminal case brought by federal prosecutors.
Instead, Santos struck a wistful tone during the three-hour live broadcast, tracing her rise from Republican «It Girl» to «Mary Magdalene of the U.S. Congress.» He lashed out at his fellow members of Congress, accusing them of misconduct — such as voting while drunk — which he said was far worse than anything he had done.
«They all act like they're in ivory towers, white pointy hats, and they're untouchable,» he said. “The ranks of the US Congress are full of criminals, there are people of all kinds of shy backgrounds.”
His decision not to seek re-election, he said, was not due to external pressure, but from -for his frustration with the «apparent arrogance» of his colleagues.
«These people need to understand that it's done when I say it's done when I want it to be done, not when they want it,” he added. «This is where we are.»
