MAKHACHKALA, December 23 Composer, conductor, People's Artist of the USSR Murad Kazhlaev died at 92 years old, Dagestan Minister of Culture Zarema Butaeva reported on the Telegram channel.

"At the 93rd year of his life, our dear maestro, People's Artist of the USSR, Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation, Honored Artist of the RSFSR, Soviet and Russian composer, conductor, teacher, public figure Murad Magomedovich passed away Kazhlaev,” she wrote.
As the minister noted, Kazhlaev’s creative heritage and multifaceted professional activities became one of the highest achievements of Dagestan culture of the 20th century and will forever remain a source of national pride for the peoples of the republic.
The composer also created a Republican school for especially gifted children, which he himself directed until his last days, Butaeva added.
Murad Kazhlayev was born on January 15, 1931 in Baku. In 1955 he graduated from the Azerbaijan State Conservatory named after Uzeyir Hajibeyov. His compositions are heard in several dozen films, including “Clouds Leave the Sky” (1959), “Adam and Heva” (1969), “Wishes Fulfilled” (1973), “Talisman of Love” (1984). He also wrote music for the anthem of the Republic of Dagestan.
In 1981 he received the title of People's Artist of the USSR, and in 2021 — Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation.
