PYATIGORSK, December 28 A squally wind hit the territory of the Stavropol Territory; as a result of bad weather, a transformer substation in village of Essentukskaya in the Foothill District, said the head of the district, Nikolai Bondarenko.
Earlier, the State Emergency Management Service for the region announced a storm warning due to strong winds of up to 30 meters per second in the western part of the Stavropol Territory.
“Today there is a strong wind blowing across our district. In the village of Essentuskaya, there were eight wire breaks and a fire at a transformer substation. Some of the streets are now without power. Specialists are working to fix the problem,” Bondarenko wrote on the Telegram channel.
The head of the Kirov district, Nikolai Novopashin, reported in his Telegram channel that the elements had descended on their territory. As a result of the impact of strong winds, the roof of the House of Culture in the village of Orlovka was damaged, the district authorities decided to introduce an increased alert regime.
The squally wind also knocked down a tree on the roadway of the Kursk district near the Novaya Derevnya farm, the regional traffic police reported on the Telegram channel. Parts of the tree were removed from the roadway and traffic was organized as normal. The regional traffic police department urges drivers to reduce speed in strong crosswind conditions and be sure to follow stopping rules.
