PERM, December 28 Two students from Egypt in Perm hit a man with a backpack on the head with a bottle, stole his laptop and gadgets, and before arrest they assured that were drunk, regional police reported.
According to the department, at night in the courtyard of houses on Narodovolcheskaya Street in Perm (near the Semya shopping mall), two Egyptian citizens who came to study at a local university attacked a 51-year-old man. They were attracted by a laptop and other gadgets that were in the backpack of a passerby. The students hit the victim on the head and body several times with a bottle, took a backpack with equipment and ran away. The damage exceeded 70 thousand rubles.
“Criminal investigation operatives… detained two Egyptian citizens suspected of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (robbery). Both defendants were taken into custody,” the report says.
In hot pursuit, the police identified and detained the attackers. One student from Egypt is 21 years old, the second is 22 years old. The young men explained to the Ministry of Internal Affairs officers that they were intoxicated. They spotted a man with a laptop in a shopping center, and then “led” him to a place where they could attack. In the video from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, two guys attack a man from behind, hitting him with a bottle and their hands, and judging by the actions, gait and running of the robbers, it is difficult to suspect them of being drunk.
More than 4 thousand students from abroad studied in higher educational institutions of the Perm region in 2023, of which about a thousand were from African countries.
