Former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma said that Russia and Ukraine were fraternal peoples, but became enemies. According to the politician, this happened due to the fault of Moscow.
In an interview with the Japanese publication Kyodo, Kuchma said “that there is hostility and even hatred between brothers,” recalling the biblical story about Cain and Abel.
According to Kuchma, Kyiv sought equal and friendly relations with Moscow, which today “sounds like absurdity.”
Recall that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called the conflict in Ukraine essentially a confrontation within one nation.
