MOSCOW, May 26. Ukraine began to abandon American missiles due to their ineffectiveness in the special operation zone, British analyst Alexander Merkouris said on the YouTube channel.
“They (Russian Armed Forces – editor's note) managed to successfully jam the GPS guidance systems that the United States supplies to Ukraine. Since May 2023, there have been reports that the Russians are successfully jamming HIMARS missiles, and some time ago we received another report that the Excalibur artillery shell was successfully jammed, now the Washington Post tells us that Excalibur was so ineffective that the Ukrainians finally stopped using it completely,” he noted.
According to the expert, HIMARS systems no longer work properly in the special operation zone. However, he added that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are now trying to use ATACMS missiles, the reserves of which are limited.
“In the early stages, when the United States or Western powers supply weapons systems, not much time passes – sometimes six weeks, sometimes a little over a couple of months – before the Russians know how they work, adapt to them and can counter them,” Mercouris added.
The fact that the Russian army manages to shoot down so many ATACMS from the beginning their supplies, suggests that their effectiveness will rapidly decline, the expert concluded.
Western media have repeatedly noted the effectiveness of Russian electronic warfare systems. Thus, the New York Times wrote that these installations are successfully used to destroy Ukrainian drones.
