MOSCOW, July 19 The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced the beginning of the Olympic Truce period is reported on the social network X.
The countries of the Big Seven (G7) in mid-June, following a summit in Italy, called for an end to conflicts during the Olympics and Paralympics in Paris. The President of the UN General Assembly, Dennis Francis, in an address called on all parties involved in armed conflicts in the world to mutually cease fire for this period. The resolution calls for a truce to be observed for seven days before the start of the Olympic Games and seven days after the Paralympic Games.

«Today begins the period of the Olympic Truce. The Olympic Games in Paris, as an event that unites the planet in peaceful competition, will be a powerful reminder that we can all unite,» the IOC said in a statement.

The Olympics will be held from July 26 to August 11. The IOC allowed Russians to participate in the Games subject to a number of criteria. In Paris they will be able to perform in a neutral status, but their compliance with the necessary criteria was assessed by a special IOC commission (AINERP), consisting of three people. Only 15 Russians representing five sports will compete at the Games in Paris.
