MOSCOW, July 27 The village of Kiolim in the Chelyabinsk region has completely cleared itself of water after a dam burst, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
«In the village of Kiolim in the Chelyabinsk region, water has returned to the river bed <…> Rescuers, using unmanned aircraft, monitored the territory of the village and began to eliminate the consequences of the erosion of the embankment section of the dam on the Kiolim reservoir,» the press release says.
According to the department, there are no casualties.
The previous evening, due to heavy rains, the dam on the Kialim reservoir burst. Four populated areas were in the path of the water: the village of Kialim (it was flooded) and the villages of Mukhametovo, Baydashevo and Karasevo. The authorities carried out a preventive evacuation of the population, 163 people, including 21 children, were transported to temporary accommodation points in the city of Karabash. A state of emergency was declared in the Karabash District.
More than 170 people and 60 units of equipment were involved in the liquidation of the consequences. Governor Alexey Teksler took control of the situation.
