MOSCOW, August 12 The Malva self-propelled howitzers are currently undergoing experimental military testing at the SVO, they have already confirmed their high mobility and protection, the first deputy general director of the state corporation said in an interview Rostec Vladimir Artyakov on the occasion of the opening of the international military-technical forum «Army-2024» in Kubinka.
“Today, these howitzers are undergoing experimental military testing in artillery units in the zone of a special military operation. Service support for the guns is provided by a team of specialists from our manufacturing company. The preliminary results of combat use are good. The high mobility and security of the vehicle are confirmed,” he said.
< br />He noted that the Malva deploys to a position in a matter of minutes, carries out a fire mission, folds up and leaves the position. This is a very high indicator, important for getting out from under fire during counter-battery combat, Artyakov explained.
The serial version of the Malva will be presented at the forum, the interlocutor noted.
«Malva» is based on the BAZ chassis with an 8×8 wheel arrangement. On public roads, the wheeled howitzer can travel 1,000 kilometers without refueling, and thanks to the all-wheel drive and powerful diesel engine, the equipment can easily overcome off-road conditions.
The howitzer can be transported by military transport aircraft — «Malva» fits into the cargo cabin of the Il-76 and can be quickly delivered over long distances. Deployment to a position, leaving it and aiming at a target takes much less time for a wheeled howitzer compared to, for example, towed guns.
The artillery mount has an automated calculation of firing parameters for all types of ammunition. It also has a «simultaneous fire raid» mode, when several shells fired along different trajectories and at different speeds hit the target at the same time.
