According to a report released by the Society of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), UK car output rose by 6.1% in March as global shortages of semiconductors and other components begin to ease.

Exports helped boost British carmakers' output, which rose by 10 percent to 61 546 units and constituted almost eight of 10 cars produced in March.
Export figures also offset a 5.1% decline in UK home market vehicles.
The growth trend in hybrid, plug-in hybrid and all-electric vehicles continued, with the segment's production rising in March by 75 percent to 32 546 units.
